Say "I Do" to Britain's Wedding Fashion Bonanza!

Part 1: Dresses
I have a hunch that pretty soon fascinators will will be the next big thing in the States - hats are back and now's the time to cock your statement piece (angles, ladies!) and work the aisle in style at the next nuptial you attend. Single ladies, single no more in these wedding day stunners; I'm not saying you have to "pull a Pippa" as the media has deemed stealing the show, but you can still look gorgeous even if you're not the blushing bride (or her bootylicious sister for that matter!) See below for a the new wedding guest attire crash course.

Fiery Red is is subtly sexy, but the hemline keeps it A-okay for the big day as long as coverage is plentiful and the rest of the ensemble (hair, makeup, accessories) is kept to a minimum, plus this dress comes in 12 different colors for each taste and season!  J Crew Sinclair Dress in Silk Chiffon (Dusty Shale), $235.00, jcrew.com

This dress is the epitome of elegance; the simplistic appeal provides for more creativity with accessories while the trim and tailored silhouette allows the "wow!". Talbots Seasonless Wool Blend Sheath Dress, $159.00, talbots.com

Lilly never fails to deliver the perfect playful, colorful, fun and, fresh dress for every girl of every age group. More to look forward to...

Summer has continued to take me on numerous whirlwind adventures, including adventures across the pond! I have to say, English fashions never ceased to amaze me, and as I watched passerby in wonder I tried to string together a thoughprocess that would lead to the creation of some of the bzaar outfits I saw. While those older on the age spectrum dictated the proper and practical attire the English are known for, there was a sort of "youth in revolt" feeling amongst the hipster 20somethings roaming London's shopping hubs. Many of these sort of looks were quite impractical, some more provacative than others, and most generally channeled a revamped urban bohemian theme. On another note, my purpose for being in Great Britain was to celebrate the marriage of my dear cousin Kim to her med-school sweetheart Ben. England's wedding fashions are full of vibrancy and life, color splashes the pews as fascniators adorn female attendees. Later I will be posting a detailed synopsis of multiple new looks inspired by my trip. HOORAY FOR ANGLOMANIA FASHION!

Good Afternoon Blogeristas!
June 23rd was the highly anticipated Summer Solstice, June 24th my last day of school, June 25th marked a 4 day escape to the family's lakeside paradise in Brookfield, New Hampshire, and June 29th marked a week-long jaunt in Fishers Island New York. Now my sister, beloved grandmother, and aunt travel across the pond for a week long adventure, centered around the wedding of my cousin Kimberly. Fishers, known for its #9 ranked golf course in the United States and 9th most prestigious club as well (the Fishers Island Club), is equally notorious for its classic golf, tennis and prepster fashions sported by wealthy New Yorkers (as the island is just off Long Island sound) and the country and world's elite. But, alas while I enjoyed the company of my Lily Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Roberta Roller Rabbit and Eliza B. - clad friends its time to move on to bigger and more global things. Assembled here are 3 whimsically stylish umbrellas for Great Britain's notoriously rainy weather (also see Braving the Elements in Style - Trench Coats that are Chic & Cheap +Braving the Elements in Style Cont. - Chic & Cheap Rain boots!) Never doubt the power and possibilities of a great accessory, and I for one think these uber-cute umbrellas fall into that category.

The Hats of the Royal Wedding

Congratulations to Kate and William, may they live happily ever after! For those that watched the royal wedding, it was in true tradition that the attending ladies bring forth nothing but the best (and quite outrageous) head wear, including a very odd bow-inspired hat worn by Princess Beatrice Ferguson which I don't believe to be a real crowd pleaser. Below are the best and worst of the Royal Wedding hats...

The Ferguson Sisters, Eugenie and Beatrice (daughters of the infamous Sarah Fergie) show their true colors in pale pink and and bold cerulean. While Eugenie's hat is femininely fun in true traditional fashion, Beatrice's eccentric mess of loop-de-loops just falls flat.

Victoria Beckham keeps it real in an understated chic navy shift (which conveniently conceals her baby bump) with a matching elegant satin head piece, just enough to make the proper fashion statement without going overboard. Pictured with husband David Beckham, the power couple played their cards right - after all, its Kate's turn to shine in the limelight!

Mirium Gonzalez Durantez strikes it rich with Latino flair. Opposing the orthodox wedding day pastels, Durantez goes for a more dramatic silver, black polka-dotted ensemble with a deep red bloom atop her head, very flamenco inspired. Her look goes against the the traditional royal wedding approach, but in a way that ups the wow-factor without the negative attention - ole!

Princess Marie Chantal of Greece shines in suptle blue hues with charming floral lace accents. The rose bouquet's placement on the piece is superb and the hat itself is lovely. Like Kate Middleton, Chantal was not born into royalty but her sophisticated beauty truly gives her the aura of a real princess (and Greek goddess at that!)

On the other hand, some of the royal wedding guest' hats made fashionistas want to say: "off with her head!" Take for example the Duchess of Kent's royal pain of a hat - a flurry of over done lace and baby pink embellishments. Rosettes and haphazard wire swirls contribute to the poor craftsmanship and design while the rest of her look does not flatter the woman's figure and the color choice looks to be chosen not by a distinguished royal of her years, but by one of the adorable toddler flower girls.

British socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson makes a statement in an electric blue ensemble of both wows and woes. She took a risk with such a bright color choice (which I personally enjoy and think compliments her skin tone nicely) and while the embellished satin stilettos are fabulous the dress itself reminds me of a Waver advertising "air dancer" (hmmm...?) The hat looks life a fat gondola and although the large rose in the center is a pretty touch, I don't think the almond shape of her headpiece was the best choice, especially from a British It-girl like herself.

Braving the Elements in Style Cont. - Chic & Cheap Rain Boots!

Following my last post on cheap and chic trench coats here are some uber-cute rain boots and wellies. I recently found a stellar light robin's egg blue short trench coat made by the Gap for $22.00 at this fabulous consignment shop in Warren, Rhode Island called Finder's Keepers! Anyway, who ever said that rain boots couldn't have style was totally wrong! Jeans tucked into rain boots with a nice top can certainly be en-vogue just as long your bright yellow duck boots aren't paired with leggings and grandma's ultra-tacky knitwear. I'm sure you darlings can make these work...
